On Monday, we went to Braddock Bay and did some serious exploring up through the many channels in the cattails, finding routes way back in that we had not seen before. We also cooked up a picnic lunch and played some games.
On Tuesday, we went for our 12 mile bike ride while following the many clues to the treasure hunt. We made stops at a school, a cemetary, a very cool bridge over the Genesee River where we saw Swans and turtles and ducks, the Historic Charlotte Lighthouse and the beach before finding all the clues and riding home.
On Wednesday, we went hiking and geocaching at Durand Eastman Park where we hiked up and down hills, crossed swamps, found a big toad and a snake, and played on the playground. We finished up the day with some fishing at the Charlotte Pier.
On Thursday, we packed all our gear into the trailer and headed for the campground near Niagara Falls. We got there and set up the tents and the kitchen and then made lunch. Afterwards, we went over to Fort Niagara where we found some re-enactors in civil war uniforms and tents and learned a little about life during those times. Then we went swimming at the pool near the fort. Finally, it was back to camp for a dinner of fresh cooked tacos and them some exploring down by the lake and along the creek where we watched the sunset before returning to camp for a campfire.
On Friday morning, we climbed out of our sleeping bags and packed up our camping gear and the tents, made a delicious breakfast of pancakes and sausage and then went into Niagara Falls to see the falls. We hiked along the Niagara River to the Canadien falls and then back to the cars. On the way home, Tammy got a flat tire and we hung out under a tree until the tow truck got there. The nice people who owned the yard where we were waiting brought out cold drinks for everyone. At last we were on the road and got home about an hour later than expected.
