Massawepie Scout Camp - July 2014

We went to Massawepie Scout Camp the last week of July. We had 2 boys and 3 adults in camp for the first part of the week. One dad had to go back to work midweek. We shared the campsite with Troop 117. They were a lot of fun. The boys went to Trailblazers in the morning and a merit badge class in the afternoon. It was a pretty cold week so we didn't do much at the waterfront but did participate in other activities like rifle shooting, campfires, whittling, trading post, board games and bike riding. On Thursday, we did a 5-mile hike around the lake with the other trailblazers. Imagine, 100+ kids and adults hiking around the lake in the pouring rain. Fortunately, the rain stopped when we were about halfway around and the sun came out to dry and warm everybody on the way back. That night was a picnic and carnival with a variety of games. Near our campsite was a creek that had been damned up by beavers to create a small pond. The boys learned a lot at Trailblazers. There was much laughter and smiling at camp. It was a great time.
