We arrived at Webster Park early on Tuesday morning and the snow was falling. The Ranger plowed the road back to Seneca Cabin and we followed in to set up for the 2 days of camp. It was a perfect day for outdoor winter fun. Not too cold and plenty of snow. When the kids stated to arrive, we began making our snow maze and of course some snowballs were flying. It seemed as though the kids were ganging up on the counselors but they didn't mind. A few people couldn't get to the park on Tuesday so we put on our snowshoes and went off to do a treasure hunt. Around 11:30 AM Harry got a call from the Park Ranger to let us know that they were closing the park and we would have to leave at 12 Noon. We hurried back to the cabin and closed things down and finally left the park. The plow had come through 4 times already that morning and the roads were clear to the gate. We hadn't had lunch so Harry took the campers to the Atlantic restaurant for lunch. It was still snowing hard and we called parents to offer options for the day. They decided to pick up the kids and Tuesdays fun ended around 2 PM.
On Wednesday morning, it was beautiful with all the trees and ground covered with an additional maybe 16 inches of fresh powder snow. We played around thecabin for a while until everyone had arrived and then went off to finish the treasure hunt. A couple of kids wanted to hang around and do things at the cabin so 1 counselor stayed behind. We found the hidden clues and returned to the cabin to find lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup waiting for us. Thank you to the staff and kids who prepared lunch. After lunch, we packed the kids, snowshoes and sleds into the cars and went to Mendon Ponds Park to feed the birds. We figured they might be hungry with all the new snow covering any seeds on the ground. We were right. I think the birds landed on outstretched hands and heads over 200 times in the couple of hours we were there. We then came back to Webster and went sledding at the big hills near Holt and Lake roads until parents arrived.
