On Monday we went paddling at Genesee Valley Park on the Genesee River and Red Creek. After paddling, we had a picnic lunch in the park before heading to the beach for swimming, kite flying and sand castles.
On Tuesday, we went on our 12-mile bicycle treasure hunt, riding from clue to clue until we had them all and could figure out the secret coded message on them and get our treasure. Then it was back to the beach for a little while before going home.
On Wednesday we had a little time to hang around basecamp before heading to Ellison Park for some geocaching and other adventures. We explored the high hills and along the creek, found a geocache and even built a small boat to float down the creek. We finished the day with a little time at the beach.
Thursday morning we packed up and headed east towards Selkirk Shores State Park for our overnight camping trip. We made a stop at Chimney Bluffs on the way to walk the beach and look for pretty stones. Arriving at camp, we set up the tents and kitchen area and cooked dinner. Some of the kids went to play at the playground. After dinner we had a campfire and after dark, played around with glow sticks to see what kind of cool pictures we could make.
Friday, after a delicious breakfast of french toast and sausage, we packed up and drove to Salmon River Falls to see the 90 foot waterfall. The kids really weren't much interested until they discovered that they could play in the river. Then all was good.
