Mountain High Adventure
Session #1 – Introduction to Adventure – July1st to July 5th, 2024
(Monday
to Friday)
We
will meet each day at 45 Britton Rd. Rochester around 8:30 AM and
return there about 4:30 PM
Monday… 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM - Learn about canoeing safety. Let’s explore (Genesee Valley Park) the Genesee River and Red Creek looking for wildlife during the morning. After a picnic lunch we will play some active games and then go to Charlotte Beach for swimming, metal detecting and sand castle building.
We will supply a picnic lunch. Bring a swimsuit and towel, sunscreen, full water bottle,
water shoes or old sneakers and sunglasses (optional). Bring a small backpack (book
bag) to carry your stuff.
Tuesday... 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Today we will be doing a bicycle treasure hunt. We may ride between
10 and 12 miles
total. We will start by checking the bicycles and making any needed adjustments.
We will go over bicycle safety rules. Finally, we will leave for our ride.
Afterwards, we will play some
games, maybe a craft and swimming.
Bring a lunch, swimsuit and towel,
sunscreen, full water bottle, water shoes or old sneakers and sunglasses (optional). Bring a small backpack (book
bag) to carry your stuff.
Wednesday... 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM -Today we will learn how to use a map and compass as well as a GPS. We will use map and compass and the GPS to find treasures at Ellison Park on Irondequoit Creek. We will explore up and down the hills and along some of the trails. We may play disc golf at Ellison Park and then swimming and sand castles at the beach.

bag) to carry your stuff.
Thursday - Friday... We will do our overnight to Selkirk Shores State Park near Oswego, NY. We will gather at 8:30 AM and plan our menu for the overnight, go shopping and pack the trailer. Then we will drive to the camp for our overnight. We will sleep in tents, cook our meals, . Maybe some games and a campfire before bed. On the way home we will make a stop at Chimney Bluffs before returning home at 4:30 PM on Friday.
Bring comfortable clothing, warm fleece or sweater, jacket, raincoat, eating utensils (plastic cup, bowl, plate and silverware), flashlight, sleeping bag, swimsuit and towel, personal items (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc), small backpack (for hiking), water bottle, camera (optional),
